Call for submission of Abstracts/Posters/Videos/other presentations
The SciCom is happy to invite surgeons and post-grad residents to participate in the academic program: you may present a paper, poster or video for the AWR Deep Impact conference, 23-25 March 2023 at Hotel Taj Vivanta, Dwarka, New Delhi.

  • For Free paper and other abstract: 300 Words Limit
  • For Video abstract : 200 Words Limit
  • For Just One Thing: 100 Words Limit

  • Original content and no dual submissions. The abstract must not have been submitted to any other upcoming regional, national or international meeting.
  • There is no limit to the number of abstracts you may submit, but you may not submit a video abstract and written abstract on the same study/data set. You can select either of these two categories for submission
  • For any submission to be considered, the presenter must be registered for the AWR Deep Impact conference before 15 January 2023. We are not responsible in any way for prevalent registration costs incurred
  • For the named sessions, acceptance will be subject to limit of number of presentations and judged for inclusion by a panel of reviewers.
  • Those submissions that are not selected for any of the named sessions will go to either the Free paper segment or the ePoster segment, and the author expected to present it in the slot allocated.
  • Acceptance of all abstracts is subject to limit of time and the decision of the Scientific Committee
  • Conference Registration is mandatory for the submission of abstract.

Rules for Submission and presentation
  • ABSTRACT for Free paper:
    • Duration of presentation will be short: 6 minutes.
    • Word limit is 300.
    • The work should be previously unpublished or not presented.
  • ABSTRACT for e-Poster
    • The poster should have maximum of 6 slides.
    • Word limit is 100.
    • Duration of presentation will be 3 mins.
  • ABSTRACT for VIDEO submissions
    • Abstract format should be followed as far as possible:
    • Word limit is 200.
    • Duration of video should be 6 minutes.
    • Format acceptable will be MPEG4, MP4 only.
    • Frame rate: 25 frames per second or higher.
    • Widescreen (16:9) projects.
    • HD welcomed: minimum = 1280p x 720p; maximum = 1920p x 1080p
    • Video codec: H.264
    • Video bitrate: minimum of 3 Mbps
    • Audio codec: AAC
    • The video should be uploaded on YouTube and a (private) link should be quoted in the abstract submission form
  • AWR Oscars Video:
    • This is a competitive session which will be judged by a jury and the audience.
    • Duration: 5 minutes
    • All the rules for video submission will be applicable.
    • If the video is not accepted for AWR Oscars, then it may be included in the normal video session.
  • Just One Thing:
    • This is an oral presentation.
    • Duration: 3 minutes
    • Word limit is 100
    • Theme: should highlight a single point/message/theme relevant to any aspect of hernia surgery.
  • Parliament of Disasters:
    • This is an oral presentation.
    • Duration: 6 minutes
    • Word limit is 300
    • Theme: The presentation should highlight a case from diagnosis, treatment and presentation of disaster/s, its management and the final outcome. Imaging, pictures and/or short video should be included to highlight the disaster/s.
  • Innovations:
    • This is an oral presentation.
    • Duration: 4-6 minutes
    • Word limit is 150
    • Theme: The presentation should highlight a problem, solution, or a new /technique/concept/instrument or a novel way of doing things as related to AWR and hernia surgery.
  • Mesh matters
    • This is an oral presentation.
    • Duration: 5 minutes
    • Word limit is 200
    • Theme: The presentation should highlight one or more aspects of mesh and /or its use in surgery.
  • Young Turks At Work
    • This is an oral presentation.
    • Duration: 5 minutes
    • Word limit is 200
    • Theme: The presentation should highlight one or more aspects of AWR or herniology. It should be confined to one aspect, theme or subject related to your topic/title chosen.
    • Rules for inclusion:
      Presenter has to be a “Young Turk” (under 45 years of age).
  • HERnia (women only)
    • This is an oral presentation.
    • Duration: 5 minutes
    • Word limit is 200
    • Theme: The presentation should highlight one or more aspects of hernia surgery in women, by women speakers. It should be confined to one aspect, theme or subject related to your topic/title chosen.
  • Stump the experts
    • This is an oral presentation.
    • Duration: 5 minutes
    • Word limit is 200
    • Theme: The presentation should highlight an unusual or complex case about it’s diagnosis, and/or treatment, and/or complication, and the expert’s opinion on management solicited. The moderators will then direct the discussion.
